Very sad. I'm disappointed that a McClatchy paper is promoting this, given what former trainers have revealed about the brutality used in training these poor animals. McClatchy used to be an honorable company the kind could be counted on to to tell the truth about things like this. No more, I guess. Folks, promoting cruelty as entertainment is very wrong.

After reading the recent Washington Post article on the horrendous physical and emotional abuse perpetrated on the circus animals (especially the elephants) I refuse to attend a circus that uses wild animals in its acts. I encourage those of you contemplating attending the circus to instead, donate monies to animal charities such as ASPCA and the Humane Society. These circus animals suffer a lifetime of inhumane cruelties simply so we may enjoy an hour or two of entertainment. How sad...
