This is just more of the same thing that makes South Carolina such a joke in other states. People outside of South Carolina laugh at the types of things that make news here. Race is always at the top of the list. It really is sad.

Are you kidding me??? The ego maniac was bragging about hitting a person. The problem w/ a lot of these police officers in SC is that they pretend to be upholding "The law' but all they have done is traded in their white hoods for a badge and gun. He's a prick w/ a badge. And to make things bad HE BRAGGED. What MORON couldnt see that this guy wasnt in it to protect the citizens of SC he's in it for the sport. And furthermore, I hope that guy sues the Hell of the state for hiring Hunters instead of honest men. I've seen rabbit dogs treated better when they are being chased down. Sheesh!-- u people!

We're shown a video and have to form an opinion of the facts without knowing the whole story; why was the guy running; I'm sorry but I think the trooper had every right to stop the suspect that way; let's quit bringing race into everything; if we're going to talk race then you can't 100% convince me there aren't black troopers doing the same thing.

I have a solution that will prevent almost all incidents of police brutality. Obey the law! If the police get behind you, pull over! If you obey these simple rules and a few other, I can pretty much guaranty this won't happen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oa2FVNGVUAM

When do we consider something "Police Brutality"? Should there even be such a thing...according to some of these shocking comments, the police should have free reign... Should we trust their decision making 100% without question? Are they not human? Are they not subject to making errors in their judgment? We can not say if this is race related or not; however, there is evidence to support the use of extreme force. Judging by the comments afterwards, the officer does not make it appear that his life was in danger...he does make it seem, however, that he loves his job...

Chasing the bad guy is one thing. Endangering innocent peoples lives is something else. I agree that if the officer feels he could not keep up with the young man on foot, then maybe he should consider a new line of work. This is truly unacceptable.

zero tolerance!that is the only thing that will stop this! it is obvious that this behavior is sanctioned by their administration. They were so comfortable with this act of violence.

the correct poll question should be "can officers use their patrol cars to hit and apprehend suspects. the answer is Absolutely "NO!".the persuit question poll is intentionally misleading. It just adds another page to the history of S.C. doing whatever the hell they want, and the feds are complicit when they do nothing to stop it.This behavior causes more serious crime because the perpetrators know the history of law enforcement and how they are protected by the administration and media.

You people that are commending the officer for this is just as bad.My father is a cop and never in his career has he bragged on something he had to do to stop a suspect.Law enforcers are suppose to up hold the law not contribute to breaking the law. That officer could have easily driven in front of that guy to make him roll over his hood rather than hitting him like that.I am sure his children will talk greatly about their father bragging about hitting another human.Which is the manin point and the sad one.He bragged about doing it.Now that is ridiculous!!!!You people need to wake up and realize what the problem with that is not because he caught a suspect but what he did on camera. That is nothing a law up holder should brag about. How he did it!!!!

We do need more information to know what was going on. It would be legitimate (although unusual) for a police officer to intentionally strike someone with his patrol car *IF* it was legitimate for him to use deadly force (duty weapon) to stop a fleeing felon. Let's get the facts before praising him or criticizing him.

You would all run too if you were harassed everyday, generation after generation. The institutions will continue to breed racism until this behavior, rather this abuse of power by the police is held accountable and stopped. The whole department should be fired because of those who commit violations of human rights and those who condone it.

Spoonman - It's the Median (just to sell papers or a black report) and the Young Black community that keeps racism alive. Have you ever heard of the White Caucus? How about the NAAWP - National Assoc. Advan for White people? What about the United "Caucasion" College fund? And a beauty pagent JUST for White Women?? Seems American is favoring black people not discrimating against them... I Truly believe in Equal Rights for all Race - But EQUAL is the word not Superior.

If you run you get what is coming to you. There appears to be no reason why this suspect should have ran. The Hunting this is really stupid cause most cops are hunters and that is no reason why he acted in this fashion. Now bragging about is not what he should have done and just filed his report.

This kind of thing is really getting on my nerves. We have white police officers that think they are upholding the law and white members of the community that think they are right. it is not okay black or white to run over anyone. but i bet if a black cop would have run over a white man it would be all wrong. race is very much a factor in the south and everyone knows it. also sick is this man is bragging how rude

I agree that you should not run if you are being pursued by the law, because it just looks worse on your part when you're brought up in court. But in the case where a person is running from the law, you get out of your car and chase them, not hit them with a freaking car. That is the job of a policeman as well, to pursue the suspect. What he should have done was chase him in the car, and once he was close enough; jump out and pursue him on foot. In-addition, when he bragged about it to his fellow officer that made it sound and look deliberatly done; therfore he is guilty. It was stupid what he did and said afterwards, but it cannot be takin back; therefore he needs to face the consequences of being a racist A**hole!!!

I understand that police officers have a very hard and dangerous job,but this is absolutely ridiculous!that officer had no right to run over that guy no matter what he did .I didnt see weapon so he can't say his life was in danger at all.I know people disrespect police officers everyday, which wrong their part and they obey the law,but please that officer should taken off the force immediately without pay.And criminal STOP DISOBEYING THE LAW! then you want to worry about police butalily.

Everyone talks about the race in the south this cop may have run over the guy. But here again you have no idea what this guy could be packing. So yeah i would have done the same thing. But if you dont like the racisit things that supposedly happen here in the south to black people then move up north out west or somewhere else we dont mind at all but until you move shut your mouth and deal with what happens its not our fault that the highest percentage rate of your race is in prison or runs almost everytime a cop pulls them over but we do have some black officers here in town and they will tell you the same thing more blacks run that whites.

in the lower right corner to bring up the settings window.
This is ridiculous! Should we take away there guns and let them get slaughtered? These men, law officers, have avery hard job to do and they never know when someone will pull a gun and shoot them. If someone will run what says they will not shoot? If the guy was able to get up and run then he must have been fine. We should allow the law to do their jobs which is to enforse the law! Why is it nobody is questioning why these people are running? If they would not run they would not be chased.
